Keys & access

AskWhisper + Salto

Digital keys, on the traveller's phone before they arrive

Visit website

The short answer

Yes, AskWhisper integrates with Salto. Digital keys are created from live reservation data and delivered to the traveller's phone before they arrive, activating at check-in time and expiring at checkout on their own. Your existing Salto locks and doors stay exactly as they are - nothing is replaced or rewired.

Where Salto sits

Travellers are on top, on the channels they already use. Your own systems sit underneath, where the real numbers live. AskWhisper is the layer between: it reads from one and answers on the other.

What flows, and which way

Your locks stay yours. AskWhisper asks Salto for a key and Salto issues it - the hardware never changes hands.

AskWhisper reads

SaltoAskWhisper
  • Your door and access-point list, so a key opens the right room
  • Key status, so your team can see whether a key is live

AskWhisper writes back

AskWhisperSalto
  • A mobile key for each arriving traveller, issued before they land
  • Activation at check-in time and expiry at checkout
  • A revoked key the moment a booking changes

What you can expect

Three things that change the day it goes live.

  • Travellers walk straight to their room

The key is on their phone before they land. No queue at the desk, no lockbox in a doorway, and no plastic card to lose or replace.

  • Keys look after themselves

Each one switches on at check-in time and expires at checkout on its own. Nobody deactivates anything, and a changed booking changes the key.

  • Your locks stay exactly as they are

Nothing is replaced and nothing is rewired. The connection runs on the Salto system already on your doors.

Getting connected

Three steps, and your existing hardware stays put.

  1. 1

    Connect your Salto system

You authorise AskWhisper from your own Salto account. Your locks and doors stay exactly as they are.

  2. 2

    Map your rooms once

Match each room to its door so a key always opens the right one. We do this part with you.

  3. 3

    Choose when keys go out

Pick the moment a key is sent and the moment it expires. From there every arrival is handled without anyone touching it.

Questions hoteliers ask about connecting

Does AskWhisper work with Salto?

Yes. Salto is our access-control integration. Digital keys are created from live reservation data and delivered to the traveller's phone before arrival, activating at check-in time and expiring at checkout on their own. No plastic cards, no lockbox and no handover at a desk.

Do I need new locks to use digital keys with AskWhisper?

No. The integration runs on the Salto system already installed on your doors. Nothing is replaced and nothing is rewired. AskWhisper asks Salto for a key and Salto issues it, so your existing hardware, doors and access points stay exactly as they are.

Which PMS systems does AskWhisper integrate with?

AskWhisper integrates with Mews, Cloudbeds, Lighthouse, RoomRaccoon, Apaleo, protel, Clock PMS+ and MyTourist. Every one of them covers two-way reservation sync, traveller profile sync and messaging triggered by reservation events. The integrations page lists what each supports, and new connections are added in the order customers ask for them.

Can I connect AskWhisper to my access control system?

Yes. AskWhisper connects to Salto for electronic access control. Digital keys are generated from live reservation data and delivered to the guest on their phone, activating at check-in and expiring at checkout without anyone deactivating them. Your existing locks and door hardware stay exactly as they are.

How does AskWhisper handle digital key delivery?

Digital keys are generated from your live reservation data and delivered to the guest on their phone, through WhatsApp or the guest app. The key activates at check-in time and expires at checkout on its own. No plastic cards, no lockboxes and no manual handover at the desk.

What if I don't have a PMS?

Most of AskWhisper works without one. The website, the webchat, the knowledge base, the AI receptionist and the journey emails all run on the facts you give us. Connecting a PMS adds the reservation-aware parts: the shared inbox, and digital check-in and keys.

Which messaging channels can AskWhisper answer on?

AskWhisper answers on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Gmail, Outlook and the webchat on your own website. Every conversation lands in one shared inbox, so a traveller who asks on Instagram and follows up by email is still a single thread for your team.

How long does it take to connect my PMS?

Most connections take a few minutes. You authorise access from inside your own account, and reservations start flowing straight away. There is nothing to install and no data to migrate. From that first connection to a fully live property, most hotels are running within a few days.

Does my data have to move to AskWhisper?

No. Your PMS stays the system of record and your data stays where it is. AskWhisper reads from it live and writes back only what it changes, like a confirmed upsell or a completed check-in. Disconnect the integration and your PMS is exactly as it was.

What happens if I switch PMS later?

You connect the new one and disconnect the old one. Your website, knowledge base, messages and journeys live in AskWhisper rather than in the PMS, so none of that has to be rebuilt. Changing PMS is a connection swap, not a migration.
