An overview of AskWhisper, for the people building with us
This page exists to give partners, integrators, and interested teams a clear, unhurried look at what AskWhisper is, how the platform works, what sits inside it, and the kind of impact properties tend to see. It is not a pitch. It is a reference.
An AI-native ecosystem for properties, not just a communication tool
AskWhisper is often described as a guest communication platform. That description is technically true, but it understates what is actually being built. AskWhisper is an AI-native ecosystem for properties, designed around a single idea: a hotel's information should live in one structured place, and every guest-facing channel should be powered by it.
In most hotel tech stacks, information about a property is scattered. The website has one version. The OTA listings have another. The pre-arrival emails describe things one way, the front desk explains them another way, and the FAQ deck on Notion is six months out of date. Guests notice these inconsistencies, staff spend time reconciling them, and the property's voice fragments across channels.
AskWhisper inverts that pattern. Property information, policies, services, upsells, recommendations, and operational details are entered once into a central hub. From there, the same information powers the website assistant, the WhatsApp replies, the webchat, the pre-arrival journey, the guest app, the unified inbox suggestions, and every automated touchpoint along the stay.
One source of truth
All property knowledge, from check-in instructions to breakfast hours to local recommendations, lives in a single structured hub. There is no separate website CMS, FAQ tool, messaging script library, or knowledge base to keep in sync.
Every guest-facing channel
The same content layer drives the website, WhatsApp, webchat, email automations, the branded guest app, and the responses staff send through the unified inbox. Guests get the same answer wherever they ask.
Change once, applied everywhere
When a property updates the breakfast hours, adds a new room type, changes a policy, or launches a new upsell, the change propagates to every channel without separate edits in different tools.
Why this is uncommon
Most providers in this space focus on one slice of the picture. A messaging tool. An upsell tool. A check-in tool. A guest app. They each solve a real problem, but they each also need their own content. The property ends up running three or four overlapping systems, each with its own version of the truth, none of which talk to the others. AskWhisper is built around the conviction that the underlying knowledge layer is the product, and that everything else, the channels, the automations, the AI replies, follows from getting that layer right. We are not aware of another provider taking exactly this approach, which is part of why properties evaluating the category often choose AskWhisper after seeing the alternatives.
A high-level view of the platform in motion
From a partner's perspective, it helps to understand the rough shape of how a property goes from signing up to running on AskWhisper. The work happens in four loose phases.
- Step 1
Centralize property knowledge
A property begins by populating its content hub. This includes the basics: room types, services, policies, check-in and check-out details, contact information, and the local context guests typically ask about. AskWhisper does most of the initial drafting automatically by pulling from the existing website, OTA listings, and any documents the property provides. The team then reviews and refines.
- Step 2
Connect existing systems
AskWhisper integrates with the property management system, channel manager, and access control hardware already in place. Bookings flow in, room data syncs, digital keys can be issued, and identity verification can be tied back to the reservation. We currently integrate natively with Mews, Cloudbeds, Apaleo, RoomRaccoon, Lighthouse Reservation Manager, Lighthouse Channel Manager, MyTourist, and Salto, and we extend the list as partners request.
- Step 3
Activate guest-facing channels
Once the content hub is in place and the systems are connected, the channels are switched on. This typically means embedding the website assistant, connecting the property's WhatsApp number, configuring the email and webchat automations, and publishing the branded guest app. Each channel is now drawing from the same source of truth.
- Step 4
Learn and refine over time
Once live, the platform produces continuous signal. Which questions guests ask most. Which automations convert. Which upsells get traction. Where AI confidence is low and human review is warranted. Properties refine their content, expand their journeys, and add new automations from there. AskWhisper's role at this point is less about implementation and more about ongoing partnership.
What sits inside the ecosystem
Below is a more detailed view of the building blocks. They are grouped roughly by purpose: the knowledge layer, the channels, the operational automations, and the oversight tools.
Knowledge and content
Centralized property hub
A structured place to define rooms, services, policies, amenities, FAQs, recommendations, and any other information guests or staff might need. It is structured rather than free-form, which is what allows the AI to give precise, consistent answers.
Multilingual content engine
Content can be authored in one language and surfaced to guests in any other. Guests receive answers in the language they wrote in, drawn from the same underlying entries.
Local recommendations and itineraries
Properties can curate restaurants, activities, and routes guests can explore. These become part of the same content layer and are available through the guest app, the website assistant, and any automated journey.
Guest-facing channels
Website chat and AI search
An embeddable assistant for the property's own website. It answers questions about the property using the central hub and helps move undecided visitors toward a direct booking.
Two-way WhatsApp messaging with AI-generated replies and human handoff. Outbound automations can be triggered from booking and stay events. Inbound questions are answered with reference to the property's own content.
Email and webchat
Automated email journeys before, during, and after the stay, plus webchat for non-WhatsApp markets. Both use the same content and tone as every other channel.
Branded guest app
A web-based guest app, branded to the property, with stay details, check-in flow, house rules, local tips, upsell offers, and a direct messaging entry point. There is nothing to install.
Operations and automation
Automated guest journeys
Configurable pre-arrival, in-stay, and post-stay flows, triggered by booking events from the PMS. Built once per property type and applied to every matching booking.
Unified inbox and smart routing
Every guest conversation, regardless of channel, lands in a single inbox. AI handles what it can confidently handle, drafts suggestions where confidence is moderate, and escalates to staff with full context where human attention is needed.
Self-service check-in and digital keys
Guests can complete check-in steps, verify identity, sign required documents, and, where the property uses compatible access control, receive a digital key for the stay. Front-desk-free check-in becomes operationally viable.
Commission-free upselling
Targeted upsell offers, such as breakfast, late check-out, room upgrades, parking, spa, and experiences, are delivered at moments the property defines. Revenue stays with the property; there is no per-transaction commission.
Broadcast messaging
When the property needs to reach a segment of guests, for example in-house guests during a planned outage or arrivals during a weather event, broadcast messages can be sent through the same channels guests already use.
Satisfaction and review flows
Guests who indicate they are satisfied are nudged toward public review platforms. Guests who indicate friction are routed to private feedback, giving staff a chance to address the issue before the guest checks out.
Insight and oversight
Analytics and reporting
Visibility into question volumes, automation performance, upsell uptake, AI confidence levels, escalation patterns, and language mix. The analytics are designed to be readable by general managers, not only by analysts.
Multi-property management
For hotel groups and brands, properties can be managed individually while sharing common content, journey templates, and brand standards from a group level.
Brand-level governance
Tone of voice, escalation rules, content review processes, and approval flows can be defined at the brand level and inherited by each property. This matters for groups that want consistency without manual oversight of every entry.
What properties tend to see
Outcomes vary by property type, starting point, and how fully the platform is adopted. The patterns below are the ones we see most consistently after a property has been live for a few months.
Information consistency
Guests stop getting different answers from different channels. The website, the WhatsApp number, the front desk, the email automations, and the guest app all draw from the same content. Inconsistencies that used to require staff intervention simply do not happen.
Reduced repetitive workload
The questions that occupy a disproportionate amount of front desk time, Wi-Fi passwords, parking, breakfast hours, check-out time, nearby restaurants, are handled by the AI and the guest app. Staff get to spend more of their attention on conversations that genuinely benefit from a human.
Faster onboarding for new staff
When a property's knowledge lives in one structured place rather than in the heads of long-tenured staff, new team members can find what they need on their own. Onboarding shifts from weeks of shadowing to a much shorter ramp.
More direct revenue
Two effects compound. The website assistant helps undecided visitors complete a direct booking rather than leaving for an OTA. Commission-free upsell offers, presented at the right point in the stay, lift revenue per booking without raising rates.
Stronger guest experience
Always-available answers, clearer pre-arrival communication, frictionless check-in, and offers that feel personal rather than generic combine into a stay that consistently feels more attentive than the staffing model alone would suggest.
Brand and group consistency
For groups, every property speaks with the same voice and adheres to the same standards, while still allowing local context where it matters. Guests moving between properties in a group experience a coherent brand.
Simpler tech stack
Properties typically end up consolidating several point tools, an FAQ widget, an upsell tool, a check-in tool, a guest app, into the AskWhisper layer. Fewer subscriptions, fewer integrations to maintain, fewer places where content can go stale.
Where it fits in a property's stack
AskWhisper sits next to the property management system, not on top of it or in place of it. The PMS remains the system of record for reservations, rates, and room state. AskWhisper is the system of record for everything guest-facing: the content, the journeys, the conversations, the upsells, and the experiences. Together, they cover most of what a property needs to run.
